Exactly last year of this month, December 2007, Everyday.com.my is born. Every new project that exists in this world is started with a quest to solve some problems and usually they exist with a vision to help make the world a better place. Everyday.com.my started with a quest to consolidate all discounts & promotion in Malaysia under one roof and arranges the information so it is easy for our readers to find them. There are many blogs and information portals in the web for Malaysian to seek for discounts & promotion but we feel that their data are too cluttered and they don’t filter out the sales that is already ended.

This is all the design that we brainstormed before we finalized with the official Everyday.com.my logo.

For the first quarter, we started with a very simple 1 page website. We should have gone for those open source platform such as Joomla CMS or Wordpress but those system can’t really suit our requirement very well. We decided to build it from scratch.

For the second quarter, we added more functions to the sites and we started giving lots of phone calls to get retail shops to give us special discounts especially for Everyday.com.my. We don’t charge them advertisement fees but we request them to provide us with some sponsorship products so we can use it to run our monthly contest. Eventually we found a few good discounts and plenty of products & services sponsorship.

For the third quarter, we added a membership module in Everyday.com.my to transform Everyday.com.my to become a community portal. We also started our monthly contribute and win contest to encourage more participation from our readers. Each month we will give away the products & services sponsorship that we got from retail owners.

For the last quarter, Everyday.com.my’s readership increased tremendously and it is starting to chock our cheap hosting server. It is time for us to move to a better server so we shifted our website to Exabytes, a great Penang based hosting company.

We started with an idea to solve existing problems but after a year in operation, it grew into a vision. It is those visions that droves us to work hard everyday to achieve the vision.

Someone send me this interesting consumer research. Survey is done on August 2008. My take is that it might be true that most consumer will still go on shopping spree because of the great discount & sales happening next month but the retrenchment news & rumours is hard to ignore. I predict this year's discount & promotion will be the greatest of all years because most companies really needed cash to save their parent companies in US, UK & Europe.

Having said that, please do spend wisely and buy value for money products that you need.
