It was love at first sight, with the gorgeous yet romantic ambiance of the fine-dining restaurant ... The captain. Who delivered an unforgettable impression of serving us like a butler, with a strong British accent. I felt like a princess that night. Or, perhaps Batman ... Homemade Bread: Lightly heated with baby cherry tomatoes and feta cheese. So good I couldn’t get enough of it that night.

I was there to observe, well I was there to try them out. I was truly impressed. It was a very lovely place to be, flushed over a romantice deco. Romantic black iron chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, elegant wall paper and the red, black and white furnishing the gave the place a superb comfort ... This place just amazed me when we were seated. Conrad the head waiter and most of us addressed him as our awesome butler of the night. He gave out his 100% tip top service. He explained in great detail about the food and drinks. Just the perfect gentlemen. He spoke with a heavy British accent and honestly melts most of the lady guests that night. I was impressed and left feeling posh too for an hour or two ... I felt so blessed after such amazing dinding experience here at ROMANZA

Gran L'Orange cocktail, the welcome drink for the each of us to enjoy before we start with our dinner truly refreshing. I would say this certainly clear my throat and ready for the meal later on! ... We actually started our dinner with amuse bouche of the day - marinated tuna with tobiko topped with sproutings. With the fresh tuna slices and well marinated with other ingredients, truly delicate! Trust me, just after you had this, you would definitely looking for the next dish approaching you ... The Duo of Chicken, master stock chicken roulade served on a bed of kimchee and topped with crisp leeks accompanied by a liver pate and served with strawberry salsa. The word "roulade" itself comes from French word "rouler" meaning "to roll". As for this dish, the chicken meat rolled and covered with stock and perfectly cooked. I personally love the juiciness of it and the combination of all dish was just splendid. A hint of sweetness from strawberry salsa certainly gave it something different ... I have to say each and every dishes I have had on that night were all uniquely different!

The word is out… there is a gorgeous new restaurant in the town revealed at Terrace at Hock Choon! Romanza le Restaurante is barely two months old and word has gotten out that this French and Mediterranean inspired restaurant is a knockout! Feast your senses on a gastronomical journey as the unique menu will evoke satisfaction from appetizers to desserts! ... The evening kick off with a glass of Gran L’Orange, a fruity mocktail rimmed with blackcurrant sugar for a refreshing head start. Fresh pressed orange juice laced with grenadine is definitely a thirst quenching mocktail! ... At fine dining Romanza le Restaurante, I finally understood what the rave was about. The fusion menu coupled with the romantic ambience and satisfying service with a smile puts Romanza in a class of its own! Every dish from starters to desserts is bold and creative under the hands of Chef Steven and his team. Portions are a good size as one is assured that they do not leave this restaurant hungry. Decadence is the order here and I would return just for the desserts alone!

It's always cause for celebration when a fresh-faced outlet takes off at Terrace at Hock Choon; Romanza Le Restaurante marked its maiden flight on Valentine's Day, propelled by fantastic fusion fantasies in which Europe & Asia land on a singular runway of recipes ... Cold winter melon & coconut soup with ginger sorbet & pine nuts, strange but exhilarating. The foundation of the menu is French Mediterranean, flirting with influences from Japan, Indonesia & more, balanced by South African chef Steven Kruger with high-wire culinary bravura.

Just when we thought that duck liver pate could no longer wow us, this came along; rolled in beetroot dust, it's the textbook definition of "unctuous," in the most pleasurable fashion. Served with toasted brioche & dehydrated strawberry chips for a creative, eye-catching preparation ... Possibly the tastiest red snapper recipe ever _ a ziggurat of oven-roasted fish with a decadently creamy mix of butternut puree, carrot-&-beetroot chips, fish roe, mushrooms, asparagus & lemon veloute ... Lavender-crusted lamb rack & lamb shoulder with roasted grapes, pommes dauphinoise, lentils & seasonal veggies in thyme jus. This course confirmed a trend: Romanza takes familiar ingredients & confidently composes them into a chorus of components that not only complement but elevate each other ... Raspberry sorbet with white chocolate mousse, cocoa tuile & white choc-filled choux pastry, sugar shards & raspberry coulis. Not too sweet, not too sour. Stellar!

I admit that when I first read about Romanza on Sean's blog, I was already mesmerised by the creativity in the plating of the dishes... call me a sucker for nice presentation! When I finally got the chance to dine here, I was indeed blown away by both the tastes and presentation of the dishes. Truly a maginificent dining experience for me ... One thing for sure is that the food here is prepared with attention to detail. Even from the moment the amuse bouche was served to us, we were thoroughly impressed ... Kruger’s creative flair is evident in the food that we ate that afternoon, beautifully presented and often made up of a symphony of components that blend together to elevate the flavours of the dish. Lots of oohing and aahing going on at our table as each dish was presented to us ... The tender lamb was sliced thinly and served with smoked aubergine puree, eggplant chips and caviar and topped with alfafa sprouts and pretty edible flowers ... Verdict: After this meal, Romanza has rightfully earned a place as one of our recommended fine dining restaurants in KL.
