
Currently the state capital of Selangor, Shah Alam is located between the district of Petaling Jaya and a portion of the district of Klang. Shah Alam was granted city status on the 10th of October, 2000 resulting in the continued growth of its population. As of 2020, Shah Alam ranks 10th in Malaysia having a total population of 481,654.
Compared to other cities, the city of Shah Alam has been developed following a well-structured master plan that aims to make Shah Alam a city with a unique and modern identity that is able to showcase the achievements of the Malay race. Being the center of rubber and palm oil trades and with a fast-growing economy, the city of Shah Alam has become one of the top choices for families, tourists, and professionals to settle in.

Tourism
As the years go by, Shah Alam has maintained and developed its natural and man-made resources making it a center for tourist attractions. There are a lot of places that you can visit and will surely love. The city is surrounded by a lot of parks and gardens, such as the Shah Alam National Botanical Park, the Alam Megah Recreational Park, and the Shah Alam Lake Gardens. If you are into history and artifacts, you can also visit the Selangor State Muslim, also known as, Sultan Alam Shah Museum, which displays the different treasures, memorabilia, and artifacts that showcases the rich history and culture of Selangor.
The city of Shah Alam is also famous for having a lot of landmarks. One of these is the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque, which is one of the largest in Southeast Asia.
Sports and Recreation
Just like any other place in the world, Shah Alam City is also into sports and recreation. At present, Shah Alam has a fully equipped sports complex called Kompleks Sukan Shah Alam or Shah Alam Sports Complex which contains a gigantic stadium that has a seating capacity of 80,000 people.
Located near the LKSA highway, section 24, is the Uptown Shah Alam. It is a very famous place for locals to enjoy food stalls and events like concerts. It also hosts games from time to time. Aside from the flea market, Shah Alam also takes pride in its largest water theme park, the Wet World. Currently, Wet World is the largest water theme park in Malaysia and has now three venues in Malaysia—the Wet World Batu Pahat, Johor, Wet World Air Panas, Pedas, Negeri Sembilan, and lastly, Wet World Shah Alam in Selangor.
