Hey, who here when applying for a job likes to ask about the company’s work culture for fear of a toxic environment? Or have you ever submitted your resignation because you are not comfortable with a toxic work environment?
Actually the word toxic comes from English which means poisonous. Well… in the world of work, a toxic environment is usually called a toxic work culture. This situation is a condition of the company’s culture that is not good and does not support career development. There are several effects caused by a toxic work culture such as anxiety, high absenteeism, stress, depression, fatigue, high turnover rate and also decreased productivity. 1. Not Appreciating

Toxic work culture can be seen from the work environment that often does not respect the individuals who work in it. It could be that the company doesn’t respect your time, doesn’t respect your opinion, or doesn’t respect your rights as an employee. A good work culture is trying to be on time in any case at work such as during meetings/visits, respecting other people’s income or respecting rights such as wages, leave allowances, or health insurance according to the agreement.
2. Ineffective Communication
A toxic work environment can be seen from the communication style used. When you get a work environment that is difficult to discuss, communicate between employees or with superiors which is full of misunderstandings and abuse that causes verbal bullying, so you feel psychologically uncomfortable.
3. There is Injustice
Toxic work culture can also be seen when you don’t get proper justice at work. For example, there are differences in treatment. If you see a performance appraisal that is only seen from personal relationships not from work performance, it is certain that you must quickly avoid the company. There could be a lot of injustice that you may not know about.
4. No Work-life Balance
Work-life balance is not only obtained by jobs with clear working hours. Work-life balance can also be obtained from work with flexible working hours. The point of a non-toxic company is to give you time to enjoy your own personal life outside of work. It can be for just resting at home, gathering with friends or to do hobbies and hone your interests.

5. Frequent Conflicts Happening

Actually, debate or conflict is a common thing in the work environment. However, the environment will become toxic when there is no solution to these problems. As a result, problems continue to pile up and get bigger so that it has an impact on productivity at work.
So, you already know, right? When you are going to work in a company, it’s a good idea to be more critical to be able to observe or ask about the company’s work culture.
